The Call for Changes

Ten students of Lutsk Gymnasium 18 participated in the sitting of  the European Youth Parliament which was held in Lutsk from April, 8 till April,10. There are no limits to their positive emotions and bright impressions! They have learned how positive decisions and actions of the young can change the world to better.

Volyn Regional Session of  EYP Ukraine 2016 was three days of program. It included:

-The Day of Teambuilding (an informal activity aimed at close acquaintance of participants and their preparation to further challenges of the conference);

- The Day of Committee Work (an intense standard working procedure with brainstorming, debating and phrasing)

-General Assembly (a strict parliamentary procedure for all the committees to present their motions for resolution and deliver a number of speeches defending their ideas and vision).

The European Youth Parliament is a non-profit organisation, which encourages European youth to actively engage in citizenship and cultural understanding. It currently  involves approximately 40,000 youngsters from all around Europe in its events and has around 5,000 active members in the different countries.  The regional session in Volyn was one of the typical events for EYP. Basically it was a 3-day event which included a great variety of both physical and cognitive challenges. Even though it is an extremely exhausting experience, all  the participants enjoyed themselves greatly since all of us were able to take part in a wide range of discussions which were based on the topic that we had to present during the General Assembly on the third day of the whole event. Furthermore, this was a perfect opportunity to meet new people. If to speak about myself, I have met a few foreign friends there and we are still communicating with each other via all kinds of social media. In addition to this, such sessions improve student’s English as we had to talk in English all the time thus making it easier for us to express our ideas in English. To cut a long story short, I am incredibly pleased because I had a chance to attend this session as it brought highly useful experience as well as a bunch of positive emotions.

By and large, EYP session was one of the most astonishing things in my life. It was rather enjoying for me to join Teambuilding where we were playing plenty of unforgettable games in order to get acquainted with each other. Every game had its own psychological idea because the aim was to make us closer and break the ice  among  the members of a team. After a  hardworking day, it was a real pleasure to have a delicious dinner and simply have fun. Then, a very informative and fascinating evening was an evening of Eurovillage where we were supposed to present our countries with their food. I am aware of our last day because it was deeply cared by our well-prepared performances. Debates were full of stress and adrenalin. However, I enjoyed them very much.  It is ridiculous to deny the fact that EYP session is a perfect opportunity to make new friends, and I was not an exception. Finally, I’d like to say that, I will never forget these three days of our «favorite» circles, inconceivable whirlpool of emotions and nights without any sleep.

Have you ever imagined yourself sitting in the chair at some session of European Parliament? You can be surprised or even a little bit shocked, but it is possible to be a delegate at a session even if you are 15 years old thanks to European Youth Parliament.

The first thing to remember is that EYP gives you a possibility to practice your English. It has to be also emphasized, that working together with people, who have the same goals and motivation promotes efficient results, despite foreign language. EYP teaches you not only to work in a team and analyze new information, but to create new ideas and find new solutions to the well known  problems. Last, but not the least  is a possibility to find new friends and to keep in touch even after the end of the session.

New friends, new experience, new aims, unexpected funny moments – everything you need for unforgettable memories can be found at EYP session!

To start with , I’d like to say that such programs as the European Youth Parliament should exist as they bring  young people from all over Europe together to discuss current topics in a parliamentary setting.

    An EYP Session was a fantastic chance to increase our knowledge on politics, make new friends and add valuable experience to our CV. We spent our time working together with young people from all over Ukraine and Europe in small working groups, where we discussed political issues in non-formal environments. However, the most memorable part of this session was to present our ideas to the rest of the participants in a large debate. Of course, it was a little bit scary, but it was also an amazing experience for each of us. We spent 3 days there. So what will I remember? Firstly, I’d like to tell about cookies and yoghurts, as there were really a lot of them. I thought, that I would  have dreams about cookies and yoghurts  after these 3 days , but luckily I did not . Secondly, I will not forget this session, because I have never slept so little. On the other hand, it was also unforgettable as I spent those hours with my friends in order to be ready for our performances. Finally, I cannot forget about our lovely officials, photographers and organizers as they are really incredible. I cannot even find right words to describe them, because they are unbelievably cool.

    To sum up, I’d like to say, that I highly recommend the European Youth Parliament to everyone. I am really happy, that I took part in such a program. What is more, I am deeply convinced, that memories about EYP will remain with me forever.

To begin with, I’d like to say that I am very grateful to my teacher for being informed about EYP session. I adored it a lot because it improved my English as I had a chance to communicate with foreigners. Moreover, committee work was really exciting because we tried to gain more knowledge of a particular theme. I will not forget about my attack speech since I was too nervous. However, I gathered all my efforts and outlook to do my best at the podium. Fortunately, everything was at the highest level. I can’t but mention our everyday coffee breaks which I really enjoyed because I had a chance to share my ideas and thoughts with others. All in all, I want to relive such an unforgettable experience again. I thoroughly recommend others to participate in EYP because they will not be depressing.
